"Migratory Patterns of Post Modern Art"

This project was created to document the lifecycle of the sculpture Jamaican Pine. The piece was my first large conceptual sculpture, in exploration of the bazaar nature of artificial turf. Deconstructing it was a emotionally painful process, and needed to be remembered.

The project also involved a performance element, that occurred in June 2011. The performance was an intimate and personal day where I introduced new people to the piece. We took the piece out of storage, played in it, used it to shoot a music video, and then pushed it through Vancouver to the place it met its end. The last part of the piece was a solitary cathartic act of dismantling the work in much the same way as it was built, layer by layer until it was scraps.

The total project duration from conception to its final death: 6 years.
