Spending her time as an introverted quiet child caused Zoë to turn her attention on the exchanges of the world around, watching and using her imagination as a sounding board to social interactions. Being involved in solitary activities such as drawing and object creation gave her an outlet to let ideas flow, and to spark social interactions to be born out of drawings. With a calling to pursue the arts she applied herself to the Alberta College of Art and Design where her ideas found three dimensional and new-media arts to best capture a way to subvert and represent her interpretations of cultural elements. Zoë graduated from the Sculpture program there with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006, and has since been concentrating her practice on the psychology of play, and is currently attempting to create work with in that framework that engages individuals in her art past the passiveness of the gaze.
In an attempt to foster design practice and experimentation of technologies and techniques currently outside of her conceptual art practice, zoëBear industries was born. This company is based on commercial design works for illustration, print, web and 3D rendering, either created for a client or as a personal investigation.
